WalkBlock is designed with a privacy-focused approach. Its core functionality is intended to operate locally on your device.
1. Information We Collect and Process
Personal Information
WalkBlock does not require account registration to use its core features. We do not intentionally collect or store personal identification information such as names, email addresses or phone numbers on our servers through the app itself, unless you voluntarily provide such information to us, for example by contacting support.
Activity Recognition Data
WalkBlock may use the ACTIVITY_RECOGNITION permission to detect whether the device user is walking or otherwise in motion for the purpose of applying app restrictions or displaying a blocking overlay. This data is processed locally on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.
App Usage Data
WalkBlock may monitor which applications are active in the foreground in order to apply your configured blocking rules. This information remains on your device and, where applicable, may be included in locally stored usage reports generated by the app.
Location Data
At this time, WalkBlock does not require location data for its core functionality. If location-based features are introduced in the future, this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly before such features are made available.
2. Permissions Used
To provide its functionality, WalkBlock may request the following permissions:
- Display Over Other Apps: to show the blocking screen or overlay.
- Usage Access: to detect which application is currently in use so that blocking rules can be applied.
- Activity Recognition: to detect physical movement relevant to the app's functionality.
- Call Status (Read Phone State): used exclusively to detect if a call is in progress. The app will not show a blocking overlay during an active call, ensuring uninterrupted access to call controls and emergency services.
- Device Administrator: where enabled by the user, to help reduce the risk of accidental or unauthorized removal or disabling of the app's protective features.
Permissions are managed through the Android operating system and may be enabled or disabled by the user or the parent or guardian, subject to device and operating-system limitations.
3. Data Storage
All core app data, including whitelist settings, schedules, app restriction rules and usage reports, is stored locally on your device. We do not maintain a central database for this locally stored app data, and we generally do not have access to it. If you uninstall the app or clear its local storage, some or all of this data may be permanently deleted.
4. Third-Party Services
Google Play Billing
If you purchase a premium subscription, subscription processing, billing, renewals, cancellations and refunds are handled through Google Play and are subject to Google's applicable terms and policies. We do not receive or store your full payment-card information.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share locally stored activity data, app usage data or app settings with third parties, except:
- where necessary for platform-based services such as subscription handling by Google Play;
- where required by applicable law, regulation, legal process or governmental request;
- where necessary to protect our rights, users or the public.
6. Children's Privacy
WalkBlock is intended to be installed and configured by a parent, legal guardian or another authorized adult for use in managing a child's device behavior. Parents and guardians are responsible for determining whether WalkBlock is appropriate for the child, enabling the necessary permissions and supervising the child's device use.
7. Security
We take reasonable measures to help protect information stored or processed by the app on your device. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the Effective Date at the top of this policy. You are encouraged to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about any updates.
9. Contact Us
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, contact us at [email protected].
Website support requests
If you use the website contact form, your email address, message and any optional device details are sent to our support mailbox so we can respond. Please do not send passwords, parent PINs or unnecessary information about a child. The form uses a temporary session cookie for security and preserves your input if sending fails. A short-lived, keyed hash of the connection IP address is used to limit spam; the form does not include your IP address in the support email. Hosting and email providers may keep their own service logs.
You can also contact [email protected] directly about your support correspondence.
Website support messages are delivered through Mail4SaaS. The email service processes your reply email address, message and any optional details you include to deliver the request to our support mailbox.
