Movement-aware protection

Automatically Block Distracting Apps While Walking

WalkBlock uses Android activity signals and on-device rules to react when the phone owner is moving, helping interrupt distracting app use at the right moment.

Why movement-aware blocking matters

Distracted walking is situational. A social app may be fine on the sofa but a poor choice while crossing a street or navigating a crowded platform. WalkBlock is built to respond to movement rather than relying only on a daily timer.

What happens while walking

After the parent completes setup, WalkBlock monitors the Android activity state needed for its protection. If movement matches the configured conditions and the child opens a selected distracting app, WalkBlock presents a blocking safety screen. The app itself remains installed; WalkBlock interrupts access during the protected situation.

What happens after stopping

Protection does not need to disappear at the first uncertain sensor reading. WalkBlock includes stillness handling so access can resume after movement has stopped according to the app’s configured behavior. Sensor classification can vary between phones, pockets, bags and Android versions, so families should test their own device and adjust settings where available.

Transport and false positives

Movement detection is not perfect. Phones can experience motion while riding in a car, bus or train, and Android may classify activity differently across devices. WalkBlock offers settings, schedules and app exceptions that help parents adapt protection to daily routines. Essential navigation, calls and transport apps should be reviewed before relying on the configuration.

Emergency and essential access

Parents can allow important apps to remain available. The right list depends on the child, country and routine, but it commonly includes the phone dialer, maps, public transport and payment tools. WalkBlock should be tested before the child travels independently.

Privacy-focused movement detection

WalkBlock does not request Android location permission in the current app configuration. Its purpose is to recognize activity and control selected app access, not to show a live family map. Read the no-GPS explanation and the privacy overview for the permissions and local data involved.
